We are pleased to introduce a new section on our blog called Jindaiji Gardening Notes.
Until now, “Jindaiji Saruku” has mainly shared stories about the nature and seasonal beauty of Jindaiji and Jindai Botanical Garden. Inspired by these experiences, I began enjoying small-scale gardening on my own balcony in Tokyo, turning limited space into a little green retreat.
I have also had opportunities to experience gardens and plants abroad, which gave me fresh perspectives on how plants connect with everyday life. Drawing on those impressions, I now enjoy growing houseplants, experimenting with hydroponics, and finding creative ways to make the most of a small balcony.
In this new section, I plan to share those efforts and discoveries—both the successes and the struggles. Topics will include how to care for houseplants indoors, which plants are easy to grow hydroponically, and what tools and containers make balcony gardening more enjoyable. My hope is that these stories provide readers with simple, practical ideas to bring more greenery into daily life.
At the same time, I would like to highlight Japan’s seasonal flowers and gardens. Starting from Jindai Botanical Garden, I will introduce famous spots across the country where visitors can enjoy roses, cherry blossoms, chrysanthemums, and autumn foliage.
For overseas readers, I will share guidance on the best seasons to see flowers in Japan, along with information about gardens worth visiting. I hope this will be helpful for planning a trip and for discovering the charm of Japan’s seasonal beauty.
With this new section, Jindaiji Gardening Notes, I look forward to connecting gardening on a small balcony with the wider world of flowers and gardens. Thank you for joining me on this journey.
